SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABILITY

Definition: To keep in existence; maintain.  Capable of being sustained.

Although there needs to be an overriding operating principle in business, from a mission statement to procedures and best practice models, etc. it's important to remember that ALL the moving parts need attention.  While singularity of focus is vital from project to project, there is also the business as a whole to consider.  Singular focus as a leadership principle may result in adverse effects from areas we're not paying attention to.

True balance and sustainability is achieved through anchoring yourself to the most important and essential elements in business.  So the question becomes "What are those essential elements in your particular business?"

With this in mind, list out at least six (6) points of sustainability for your business to survive, enabling you to get to the next level.

Obviously it makes sense to have a trouble shooting guide when things go wrong.  This list is that guide.  When there are bumps in the road or when things go wrong look back at this list and see what point or points are not getting attention and you will find the problem.

All the Best,
Scott Evans
