GOT TRAJECTORY?

We engage in daily activities in life and business with a positive outcome in mind.  Those activities have a trajectory of direction and intensity.  Unless we've correctly estimated the effort, energy and time involved, we may fall short or otherwise be disappointed with the outcome, and possibly be frustrated with how long a project is taking.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT

An activity for the sake of the activity reveals few rewards, especially in business.  There are a couple of things to consider so you correctly estimate your effort, time and ultimately meet your expectations.

1) Fully describe what it is - EXACTLY - that you do.
2) Fully describe the purpose of the activity.
3) List out the activities required to move in the direction of your goal and/or intended outcome.
4) Determine whether or not you realized the goal and/or intended outcome.

UP UP AND AWAY!

Obviously the excitement of meeting your goal, or more, is a great feeling and a sense of accomplishment.  Exceeding your goals is beyond compare.  But what about coming up short, what then?

You're in good company no matter where you land and here's why.  If you land well beyond your goal(s) then there is still a desire for more, and you continue to move in an upward trajectory.  If you meet your goal(s), the satisfaction is great but you still have bigger things in mind so you continue to aim for more and move in an upward trajectory.  If you fall short of your goal(s) you have only one direction to put your attention on, UP.  You will continue to aim and move in an upward trajectory.

In any case, you are in the company of people aiming high, wanting more and in constant refinement of their next move that will keep them on the path of an upward trajectory.

There is a lot of blue sky out there to shoot for and I suggest you continue to aim high and get your piece of blue sky.

Most of all, be proud of your accomplishments because that alone will keep you on the path to exceeding your expectations.

All the Best,
Scott Evans
